SIM900 GSM/GPRS shield - EXSH900

The shield is based on the quad-band SIM 900 GSM/GPRS module. It enables Arduino to work with GSM and GPRS networks. The shield allows making voice calls, sending SMS messages or establishing connections over the internet. The shield has a switch that selects either a hardware or a software serial port connected to the GPRS shield. If you select the software serial port, you will use a software UART otherwise you will use the hardware UART port of the platform. The shield also includes a high-capacity capacitor intended to supply the real time clock module. If you switch the key to the DBG port, you can connect the port to the Arduino and connect it to a computer for debugging.

  • The UNO R3 communicates with the GPRS module via the serial port, so after uploading (you must plug the shield into the UNO R3 after uploading the code, otherwise the serial port will not work.), connect RXD (D0) of the UNO R3 to TXD of the shield, and TXD (D1) to RXD of the shield.
