Buck converter with LM2596 is used to reduce DC voltages. The operating input voltage is 4.5V to 30V , and the output 1.3V to 30V. It is built on the basis of an integrated circuit LM2596, which is a buck converter (step down) with a built-in power transistor. The circuit works with very few external components and is therefore preferred for building this type of converter board. The integrated circuit provides an efficiency of up to 92% in optimal cases. Quiescent consumption is also low when no load is connected – 5mA. The built-in power transistor allows use with loads of up to about 2A, and with additional cooling – up to 3A.
